Casaundra received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico in 1988. Later she returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1993. She went on to obtain her master's degree from the New York University in 2000 where she was educated as an Adult Nurse Pracitioner.

As a Registered Nurse, Casaundra worked extensively with cardiac patients in a variety of venues including the ER, ICU, the open-heart unit, and cardiac catheterization lab. As a Nurse Practioner, she worked with cancer patients for three years in the Oncology Department at the VA Hosptial in East Orange, NJ which participated extensively in research on cancer-related issues. She moved to the Bay area in 2004 with her family and has enjoyed working in the anesthesia department as a Nurse Practitioner since 2005. Her medical interests lie in Cardiovascular Disease in Women.

Her personal interests include spending time with her family, reading, traveling, skiing, and exercising.

She speaks English and intermediate Spanish.
