Welcome to my home page. My name is Carol Lauerman R.N., B.S.N., C.D.E. and I am the Diabetes Care Manager.

Philosophy: I feel that patients deserve the best and most holistic care that can reasonably be provided to them under our clinical guidelines.

Specialty: I am a Diabetes Care Manager with a focus now on lipid and blood pressure management also. I chose Diabetes in 1977 as my specialty because this disease touches every system of the patient’s body and allows a nurse to keep up to date on all aspects of a patient’s health status.

TPMG: started here in December 2001 I practice at Kaiser Permanente because there is a philosophy of prevention in our program and in all the programs that are part of the Chronic Conditions Management department.

Interests: I want to improve the quality of individual’s lives and keep them active and as healthy as possible even if they are affected by a chronic disease process. I have been, in the past, active in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and American Diabetes Association at the national and statewide levels in Nevada. I helped to establish a camp for children in Lake Tahoe several years ago.

History: I have been a Nurse Practitioner in California practicing at USC Medical Center and the associated clinics. I have been a Nurse Practitioner in private practice and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the past in Nevada.

My home page is simply a way to introduce myself to my patients so that they feel comfortable with my past experience.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
