Hello and welcome to my home page.

In addition to providing some background about me, I hope that this page will serve as a useful source of information for you. Links to the left of the page will direct you to some of the materials that have been developed for our members here at Kaiser Permanente.

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in working with children and adolescents from a family-oriented perspective. I received my education in psychology in the San Francisco Bay Area and conducted my training in community mental health settings throughout the area.

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up in a large extended family in a rural environment helped develop my life-long interest in family dynamics and behavior. This interest has culminated in my career choice as well as my passion for working therapeutically with youth and their families.

I joined the Child and Family Psychiatry Service at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City in November, 2006. I sought to be part of the Kaiser team partly because of their focus on effective treatment for various mental health issues as well as their family-centered focus. I feel fortunate to be working with a talented group of professionals who truly enjoy working with youth and their families on a wide range of issues.

My practice philosophy includes a strong belief in building trust with my clients, recognizing clients’ expert status in the events of their own lives, and working collaboratively to assist family members in making preferred choices in their lives as well as to build effective communication patterns. Specific goals I often work towards with clients involve building effective solutions to problems, helping individuals and families reconnect with exiting strengths and preferred qualities, and helping to clarify personal as well as family values.

My personal interests and hobbies include spending time with my wife and friends, traveling, mountain biking, skiing, and playing Ultimate Frisbee.

Thank you for your interest.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
