I was born and raised in San Francisco, California. I graduated with high honors from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After receiving my medical degree from the University of California, San Diego, I completed a pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a neonatology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. I joined The Permanente Medical Group at the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center in 1996 as a hospital-based neonatologist and am a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that focuses on the care of critically ill infants in the immediate newborn period. Neonatologists care for both premature and full term infants in the Intensive Care Nursery (ICN). I feel privileged to be able to help our smallest patients at a critical time in their lives. It is truly rewarding to see these tiny babies grow up and "graduate" from the ICN.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, cooking and going to the opera.

The menu at left provides links to information concerning our intensive care nursery. I have included a link "Learn more about Neonatology" that gives information about conditions that commonly are found in our intensive care nursery patients.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
