How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

I am very proud to say that I am part of Kaiser Permanente. I am a “Kaiser baby” born right here in the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco main hospital. I have been a Kaiser Permanente member my entire life and find the system efficient and easy to use. Upon completing my graduate studies I knew that I wanted to work for Kaiser Permanente and provide quality care to patients just as I have received all of these years.

Working in the field of Addiction Medicine is an honor. I have the opportunity to witness patients’ courage and commitment to achieve health by engaging in a multi-faceted treatment program where they learn new coping strategies in terms of how to deal with the ups and downs of life without using substances. Engaging in a solid recovery program is life changing for so many people and I get to witness that at work- wow!

Having worked with trauma-survivors in the past, I am particularly interested in those struggling with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and addiction. Many times the two go hand in hand since trauma-survivors often times want to block out unpleasant memories and numb negative emotions. Some people turn to substances and eventually find that it has turned into a problem.

As a clinician, I am very proud of the work we do to accommodate people in need of chemical dependency services. For example, Kaiser Permanente offers its members interpreter services in a multitude of languages. Monolingual members are able to participate in groups with the assistance of a Kaiser Permanente interpreter and fully engage in all aspects of the treatment program.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, go to movies, hang out with friends, occasionally do my best to carry a tune at karaoke, and do a little shopping.

In order to “live well and thrive” I go to the gym 3-5 times a week and have recently starting running, which I find invigorating. I also try to eat a balanced diet. One of the most important healthy behaviors for me is to laugh a lot! Laughing is great medicine and I try to do it as much as possible.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
