Welcome to my home page!

I hope that you find the contents and links to be helpful to you.

About me:

I grew up in New Jersey. I completed my medical school training at Rutgers University, my internal medicine training at Yale University and my training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at New York University. My wife, also a physician whom I met at Yale when she set my broken hand in the emergency room, convinced me to leave the east coast in order to move closer to her family. We both joined The Permanente Medical Group in July of 2000.

I have been very happy taking care of patients within the Kaiser system. I have found the pervasive guiding principle in decision making to be “what is best for patient care”. I believe excellence in health care is both what we strive for and often achieve.

I believe and have been told that I have a teaching style of practice. During a consultation I typically attempt to explain how your lung is functioning, what improvements might be expected and review tests / x-rays if available. Please feel very free to ask questions regarding what is known about your condition during your visit.

When I am not in the hospital, I am generally spending time with my wife and two young daughters.

To get the most out of our consultation or follow-up appointment:

  • Please arrive at my office about 10 minutes before the appointment time. This will allow you time for my office staff to obtain information such as your blood pressure, oxygen saturation and weight.
  • Please feel free to bring copies of any records you think might be helpful.
  • Please bring a list of your current medications and their doses or the actual pill bottles themselves.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my home page.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
