About Me
I was born in Eugene, Oregon and raised in the East Bay Area. I received my undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College in 1999. I then earned my California State Teaching Credential from Chapman University in 2001. After a couple years of teaching, I continued my graduate education at Santa Clara University, graduating with a Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2006. I am now licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
My specialty areas include marriage and family therapy, dual diagnosis, as well as chemical dependency. Before coming to work at Kaiser, I worked as a 6th grade teacher for three years in South San Jose and later as a counselor for the Salvation Army from 2005 to 2006. I have been with Kaiser Permanente since October of 2006. Currently I work as an MFT in Kaiser’s Chemical Dependency Recovery Program (CDRP) in Cupertino, California.
On a personal note, I am married to my beautiful wife, Cassie. When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking, travel, baseball, reading, lifelong learning, meditation and mindfulness. I was formerly a licensed skydiver with the United States Parachute Association. I completed 264 skydives before I stopped jumping in 2005.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
