Welcome to My Home Page!

I began practicing therapy at the John F. Kennedy Counseling Center in Pleasant Hill in 2001. I had been working in the field of Mental Health as a Recreation Therapist in varied settings since 1979 and incorporate those skills into my work now. Becoming a Marriage Family Therapist enhanced my knowledge and was the next more challenging step in my life. I always knew I was meant to work with people and wanted to understand human behavior from a very young age in my life. I love my work because it's varied and always interesting. Each individual is unique and a puzzle to figure out.

Kaiser Permanente is a fabulous employer in all ways and the best employer I have ever worked for. My philosophy of care is that people come to me for a reason, and it is up to me to figure it out and try to give it to them. I work collaberatively and empathically.

I understand severe mental illness and symptoms well, and have treated many individuals with Bipolar Disorder and their family members. I also specialize in Sports Psychology, and the connection between body and mind. My special clinical training includes psychopharmacology, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychology of Injury, Bipolar Disorder. My affiliations with professional associations include the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and United States Cycling Federation. I am a Level 3 Cycling Coach and Official and Master's Racer, and have competed in many different sports in my lifetime. Yoga has and continues to influence and ground me.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
