Hello, I'm Bhavin Parikh, M.D., with the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente, South Sacramento. I am pleased to offer my home page as a means to introduce myself and to provide you with high quality health information. I know walking into a physician's office is an anxiety provoking experience. My goal here is to make you as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Please enjoy the tour of my home page, and please feel free to call me or e-mail me if you have any comments or questions.

I am fortunate and very proud to work with a team of caring, intelligent, and passionate individuals as well as to work for one of the best health care systems. As a Kaiser family member, I believe in providing the best personalized care while making a person-to-person connection.

My job duties are split into Inpatient (meaning taking care of Kaiser patients while they are admitted to psychiatry hospitals) and Outpatient (in our clinic setting). Although I am on staff at Kaiser Permanente, South Sacramento; I spend the majority of my time (four days a week) at Sierra Vista hospital. I also run the Memory and Geriatric Outpatient Psychiatry clinic at the Wyndham Building every Thursday, where I see only geriatric patients. I also make rounds at certain nursing homes.

Background Information

I started my career in a research field and worked in the immunological aspect of substance disorders and schizophrenia at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Loyola University. I completed my psychiatry residency training at Texas Tech University and then did a Geriatric fellowship at University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School, Dallas. After graduation, I worked for Veterans Administration hospital system. My areas of interest are geriatric psychiatry, substance disorders, psychosomatic medicine, and scientific research.

About Me

I was born and raised in India where I completed my medical school training. I immigrated to the United States to further advance my clinical and research experience. I am fortunate to experience and learn both Eastern and Western cultural, societal, and health care values.

While driving on a coastal highway, I started falling in love with California's weather; so I made a permanent move here. Besides weather, people are great here.

During off hours, I spend the majority of time with my family. I have a wonderful and loving wife and children. The majority of family live in India including my father, sisters, and brother. I keep in close touch with them. I have several supportive and caring friends. My hobbies are playing cricket, traveling, photography, bicycling etc. I volunteer in several non-profit organizations.

My Credentials

Medical school Baroda Medical College, Baroda, Gujarat, India
Residency Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, TX
