Welcome to My Internet Home Page
Welcome to my home page. I am happy to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente Stockton Health Education Department and hope that the information you find on my home page will help you to live well, be well, and Thrive!
Why do I want to be a Registered Dietitian?
I have always been very active with sports and interested in the role of food and good nutrition on athletic performance as well as its role in overall health. I also enjoy teaching and educating others. Nutrition is the perfect marriage of these two. Everyday I get to help others to learn about nutrition and teach them to make healthy choices.
Why did I choose to practice in Kaiser Permanente?
I am proud to work for Kaiser Permanente because I believe in Kaiser Permanente’s approach to patient care and its focus on education and prevention. Kaiser Permanente has a wealth of resources for both its members and staff. These resources allow me to provide the best possible care for our members.
My Education and Training
I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychobiology from University of California at Santa Cruz in 1996 and my master’s degree in Nutritional Science from San Jose State University in 2000. I have been working as a Registered Dietitian for Kaiser Permanente since then. I started in the nutrition clinic at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco and soon after began working as the dietitian in weight loss surgery program at Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco. My area of specialty quickly focused to weight loss surgery nutrition and I worked in that specialty until 2008. I am happy to bring my weight management knowledge to the Manteca team.
My Philosophy of Care
I believe that balance and moderation are the keys to a healthy lifestyle. My goal is to help educate members to make healthy nutritional choices and to improve their quality of life.
More About Me
I grew up in Modesto and moved away to the San Francisco / Bay Area for 11 years before returning “home” to the Central Valley. I have a young son and enjoy spending time with him. I swim for the Modesto Area Aquatic Club (MAAC) masters swim team and in my spare time I like to knit and I am currently attempting to learn sign language. To keep it exciting, I also work part time as a DJ in the Bay Area.
Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.
