Welcome To My Home Page!
About Me
I enrolled in nursing school when I was 18 years old knowing only that I wanted to pursue a meaningful career that would enable me to help people. I was fortunate to complete the program in two years and promptly started my career as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse. Six years later my employer, the University of Chicago Hospital system, financially supported my entry into Nurse Anesthesia School at Rush University in Chicago.
I have now been a nurse anesthetist for 25 years and continue to be motivated and inspired by my chosen profession. The dynamism of anesthesia practice from a nursing perspective is highly rewarding and I consider it a privilege to care for my patients at this most important time of their lives. I often feel as though I have the best job in the hospital because I get to be the person to keep the patient safe and comfortable throughout their surgical or obstetrical experience. As a nurse anesthetist who has also required surgery on a number of occasions, I am acutely aware of and respect the anxiety and fear many patients bring with them to the operating room. My greatest goal is to gain my patient’s trust before the procedure and to make their anesthetic experience as pleasurable as possible.
At Kaiser Permanente, I appreciate the opportunity to participate in the anesthesia care team approach to patient care which promotes the integration of efforts by both physician and nurse anesthesia providers towards optimization of patient care.
In addition to my routine clinical responsibilities, I regularly participate in various educational pursuits, mostly in the area of obstetrical anesthesia. I am happy to have introduced the concept of Patient Controlled Epidural Analgesia (PCEA) to our department and through collaboration with a Certified Nurse Midwife on our staff, introduced the policy for walking epidurals at Kaiser Walnut Creek where we strive to keep our exceptional obstetrical anesthesia services state of the art.
On a Personal Note…
I am very fortunate to have married my husband Charlie, 25 years ago. I am the proud step-mother of my three adult children, and the exceptionally proud grandmother of Jonathan, Little Charlie, Cailyn, Jackson, Gracie & Brooklynn. My favorite activities outside of the hospital include spending time with my grandchildren, yoga, hiking, traveling and reading.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
