My Practice Philosophy

I meet patients and their families in times of great need. While always doing what is best for the patient, I also try to foster a relationship with the family in order to form a bond of trust, keep them fully informed, and thus enable them to be active decision makers in their child’s care.

About Me

I was born and raised in Southeast Michigan in a suburb of Detroit. I received my undergraduate education from Johns Hopkins University, graduating with a B.A. in History and B.A. in Biology. I earned my Medical Degree from New York University, School of Medicine in 2003. I completed my Pediatric Residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital of Northwestern University, School of Medicine.

After my residency, I did a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital of Stanford University, School of Medicine. I am board certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics.

My Interests

Medically, I am interested in neurotrauma, neurodevelopment, sedation, use of ultrasound in critical care and airway management.

On a personal note, I am married with one child. I spend my time away from work enjoying my many hobbies. I love cooking, downhill skiing, running (I have completed full and half marathons), exercise and general fitness. I enjoy history and ice hockey - Go Detroit Red Wings!

Recently, I spent a week living on a boat and sailing around the British Virgin Islands.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
