I began a challenging and rewarding professional change in July 2006 joining Kaiser Permanente’s Early Start Team. Focusing on preventative drug free prenatal care and supportive harm reduction counseling has given me an opportunity to use my background in Chemical Dependency and Family Counseling in a new and exciting direction. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to enter the patient’s personal journey through pregnancy utilizing empowerment, healthy choice options, individualized resources, and supportive counseling both pre and post natal.

My earlier career was doing In-Patient Psychiatric Social Work; E.R. Crisis Intervention; and Criminal Justice Drug Diversion with Monterey County Behavioral Health. I earned my Masters Degree in 1993 in Counseling Psychology but spent the next 14 years working with people with chronic and persistent mental illness.

My relocation to San Jose has allowed me the geographical freedom to live near my daughter and participate in my 3 year old grandsons’ life. I was born in Reno, Nevada and love being in the mountains. Hobbies have included golf and tennis, but I am mostly attracted to white water trips and risk taking adventure. When I do retire I want to be a weather chaser and provide disaster aid to those who have personal loss.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
