Welcome

Welcome to my Internet Home Page. This site is designed to provide you with information about myself and how to access care in Rheumatology. Please take the time to get familiar with my homepage. I hope you will find it to be a useful resource for your healthcare needs and information. I plan to add to it on a regular basis, primarily with educational information, as well as with references to other useful sites; so stop back periodically, and let me know if it needs updating, and how it could be of most use to you.

About Me

My name is Dr. Baowei Tang and I am one of the rheumatologists serving the Central Valley Service Area. When I was young, my mom was admitted to the hospital several times and that was when I decided that I wanted to be a physician to take care of others. I received my medical degree from Nanjing Medical College, Nanjing, China. I then completed my residency in internal medicine at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, IN. After that, I completed a rheumatology fellowship program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN. I am board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

I was in private practice before I join Kaiser Permanente. I believe the Kaiser Permanente is the model of future health care in United States. Kaiser Permanente is the national leader of providing high quality of medical care while keeping the cost under control. My medical interests include new discoveries in rheumatic diseases and their new treatment options.

I am a firm believer in the benefits of patients playing active roles in their care. I will encourage my patients to ask questions about their diagnosis and different treatment options.

Family and Friends

I was born and raised in China. I finished my internal medicine and rheumatology training before immigrated to the United States. My wife, Lin, and I have two beautiful daughters.

Apart from English, I can also speak Mandarin, Chinese.

Hobbies and Interests

When I am not working, I enjoy photography, digital painting and any outdoor activities.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
