Welcome to My Home Page!

I knew I wanted to be a physician from a very young age. My first medical role model was my father, a pediatrician, who looked forward to going into work each day. He kept that enthusiasm throughout his career. Thus far, I have found my career similarly rewarding. It is a privilege to care for the infants that I see in my neonatal practice.

I love attending deliveries--in fact, when I was in medical school, I was deciding whether to specialize in obstetrics or in pediatrics. The realization hit me that as soon as the baby was born, my focus went immediately to the baby--this made it clear to me that Pediatrics was the best career choice for me. I still enjoy the joy & wonder of the delivery process and feel lucky to have chosen a career where I am able to experience this on a daily basis.

As a neonatologist, I interact with my patients as well as their families, often during a very difficult time for them. Having one's baby in the NICU is extremely stressful and often frightening and intimidating for families. Not only do I enjoy the medical challenges of providing neonatal intensive care, but also find my interactions with my patients' parents rewarding. One of my goals is to provide to families information and guidance in order to help make this challenging time more manageable.

During my time outside of work, I love to spend time with my husband and two young children. Trying to keep up with our two little ones is sometimes a challenge but incredibly fun and rewarding! Having children of my own has provided me some insight into what the parents of my patients might be going through and feeling when their children are ill & hospitalized.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
