My Biography

I have worked for Kaiser Permanente since 1995, in the East Bay. I enjoyed my time there, and then came to Kaiser Permanente San Francisco to work within a larger, more diverse department and begin my career transition into working with an Adult Team. I’ve found this to be a dramatic, challenging shift on every level; my career feels invigorated! My professional growth has been tremendous, and has resulted in new interests. For example, I developed and help to facilitate a group for bipolar patients and their families, which is a whole new area for me. I also work with a group for women who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Both of these interests stem from my prior family work.

My special interest areas lie in dual diagnosis work and long-term recovery, custody, sexual identity, and parenting issues, and working with adult children of alcoholics. Our department has a huge respect for diversity and sensitivity when dealing with members.

Kaiser Permanente is rather forward-thinking and receptive to ideas. Our department is supportive of new groups and fresh types of programming. Despite our large department, my colleagues maintain a cordial, warm milieu.

Away from the office, I love to spend time with my family, travel, listen to music, and read literature. I have enjoyed reading Nadine Gordimer since traveling to South Africa last spring. I enjoy taking long outdoor walks, visiting the ocean, and passing time with people with whom I have close relationships.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
