My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a neurointerventional nurse practitioner. This means I work with the patients who are going to have or have had a neurointerventional procedure such as coiling of the brain aneurysm or stenting of brain narrowed blood vessels. I decided to do this because it is a subspecialty that creates a lot of opportunity to educate patients.

My Practice Philosophy

My philosophy of care rises from the belief that human beings are made in the image of God. Not all of us walk in that image, however, every person regardless of age, race, color, and financial or health status, deserves the dignity, respect and compassion that our creator has in mind for him. I believe that it is as important to listen to what my patients say as to suggest treatments and modality of care. To me the most important aspect of a communication is to create a non-judgmental and comfortable atmosphere for a patient where they can bring up his or her health issue without fear and in freedom.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since April 2009. Over this period of time I have come to appreciate the value of Kaiser Permanente’s integration services, information technology and evidence-based approach to the practice of medicine. I see Kaiser Permanente as a big family where people have the opportunity to receive all they need within the boundaries of the family.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I like practicing medicine at Kaiser Permanente because Kaiser Permanente really thrives to do the best it can for its members. I also appreciate the leadership and the high standard of care that our neurosurgeons and neurointerventionalist physicians stands by. I work with a team of highly educated professionals, through them, research and education has become part of my daily life and I enjoy this greatly.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

I am a family nurse practitioner. My background is in trauma, orthopaedic and surgical nursing. Currently I am working on developing a subspecialty on neurovascular nursing.

  • Member, California Association of Nurse Practitioners
  • Member, Academy of American Nurse Practitioners.

On a Personal Note

I was born and grew up oversees. I came to America when I was 20 years old. Through the opportunity that the Lord has provided for me I have been able to grow from a student in an ESL class (English as a second language) to a highly specialized nurse practitioner. I love medicine and nursing and I love people. I am also married to a Christian minister and I am a part of our church worship team. Outside of my work hours, I do some community work through our church for the population of people we are in contact with. I am also privileged to be a mother which I think to be my most important and rewarding job.
