Welcome to my home page. I hope you take the time to review all the materials I’ve provided. I look forward to meeting you and giving you personalized care for your cardiac condition and hope this homepage helps you get to know a little more about me.

About Me

I originally wanted to attend medical school to become a family practice physician and give personalized primary care to the young and old. However, internal medicine was and is a growing profession and the medical knowledge in this field is increasing and expansive. During my training I became interested in critical care and taking care of the critically ill. I entered the cardiology field wanting to work in anesthesiology. However, cardiology expanded to allow for interventional surgery. It was not only possible to treat coronary heart disease, but it was now possible for surgeons to operate!

After completed my cardiology fellowship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, I entered into practice as a general cardiologist with a focus in interventions. I have been fortunate enough to participate in two decades of interventions that has allowed us to open blockages in arteries that doesn’t require re-treatment about 97% of the time. There are many techniques that fellow physicians around the world use and I have been able to participate in the development of new technologies that can unblock arteries that have been blocked for a long time.

I went into the medical profession because it provides a unique opportunity to apply science to help real people. I came to Kaiser in 1995 because I believe that Kaiser provides an opportunity to practice high volume and high quality Interventional Cardiology.

Personal Interests

I am able to balance my work life and my home life due to all of the hard work of my wife. I am very dependent on her. I am married with three children. When I am not practicing medicine I enjoy making sure my children grow up well grounded. My primary hobby is to grow coronary arteries bigger than they were before. I also enjoy the outdoors and fishing.

Philosophy of Care

I believe that the patient’s overall wellness depends on the patient’s understanding that they are an important part of the formula. The physician can provide care, but we cannot provide a cure.

My work ethic is that I work harder than I should. In the Kaiser environment, this is driven by a passion to provide quality care and the effort it takes to bring in new changes and technology. Even I need to do more to stay healthy.
