Welcome to my homepage

I joined the Kaiser Permanente medical team in October 2011, and I am pleased to be part of the physical therapy department here at the San Jose Medical Center. I chose to work here because of the large emphasis on interdisciplinary care that puts the patient’s health and wellness as the number one priority. As a physical therapist in the outpatient department, I treat patients with orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation needs and provide them with individualized care to help them achieve their fullest potential. Your goals for physical activity are my priority and I will do my best to help you learn what it takes to achieve them.

Background

I was born and raised in the Bay Area (Fremont) and grew up in a family who loves to be active. As I was growing up, I played football, baseball, and soccer. Over the years, I have gained interest in a variety of ways to stay active. I am currently interested in weight training, wakeboarding, snowboarding, volleyball, mountain biking, hiking, long distance running (you can catch me at each San Jose Rock & Roll event!), and obstacle events like Tough Mudder and Urbanathalon.

I graduated from San Jose State University in 2007, with honors, completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a Pre-Professional emphasis. In 2011, I earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, with honors, from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland. During my last year in PT school, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to do my final internship at Kaiser Permanente San Jose. The experience was great and I loved the chemistry between the staff members! Shortly after the internship, I joined the staff as an outpatient physical therapist and have been enjoying the patient population I work with on a daily basis.

Recommendations

As your doctor of physical therapy, I recommend that you take an active role during your rehabilitation. I encourage you to be consistent with your exercises and ask questions when something is unclear. During this time, focusing on your general health and wellness is extremely important - if your general health is not at its best, that will affect your rehabilitation from injury or disease. Try to eat healthy, be active, and get enough sleep. For more information about health and wellness programs offered at Kaiser Permanente San Jose, please click on the "Tools and Classes" link on the upper left of this page, or contact our Health Education Department. I also recommend that you access kp.org or kp.org/mydoctor for a wealth of information about programs and resources Kaiser Permanente has to offer.

I am currently a member of the following organizations:

  • American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
  • California Chapter of the APTA, Golden Gate District
  • Orthopaedic Section of the APTA

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
