Hello! Welcome to my home page!

I am proud to be a midwife at Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento. We have a wonderful team of caring, thoughtful and skilled midwives and doctors.

As a child, I grew up on a farm near Los Angeles, where my parents raised goats. As one of six children I was the only one who was eager to witness the birth of the goats, regardless of the hour.

I graduated from Yale University School of Nursing in 1997, living in New York City for several years. After graduation I learned Spanish well, and had a baby.

I realized that I wanted to be a midwife when I witnessed the birth of my nephew. There was a midwife present during the birth and I visualized myself pursuing this career.

My family and I moved back to Sacramento in 2003. In 2005, after I gave birth to my second son, I started working at Kaiser South Sacramento and I have been working as a midwife ever since.

There is a wonderful family-style relationship in our team of midwives, doctors and nurses. I appreciate working with a staff of conscientiousness and kind people. The process of pregnancy to birth and postpartum can be unpredictable. Each mother and family has a unique way of dealing with childbirth and I know that listening to the mother and family is essential during this process.

I look forward to meeting you and your family and always remember it is a privilege to be a midwife. I wish the best, happiest and healthiest journey to all of our families.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
