Hello and welcome to Physical Therapy at Kaiser Santa Clara-Homestead. I’m looking forward to working with you, and I’d like to introduce myself.

I was born and raised in the Santa Clara Valley. I attended the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at De Anza College, where I received my Associate in Arts Degree and became licensed as a PT Assistant in 1987. I also earned an Associate in Science Degree in Graphic Arts at Mission College in 1999, and in 2000, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from San Jose State University. Throughout my career, I have continued my education in physical therapy by taking classes on repetitive strain injuries, and orthopedic and sport related injuries.

I have worked for Kaiser Permanente since 1977, and I have enjoyed a diverse experience here. I have provided physical therapy services to inpatients, outpatients and homecare patients. I most enjoy working with groups of people where members can interact with each other, and where I can assist with their return to an active lifestyle, by providing encouragement and compassion. I also work with patients individually in the clinic, to help them reduce pain, and gain strength and mobility. The biggest reward in Physical Therapy is to know I have made some small contribution to someone's quality of life.

In addition to treating patients, I am an active contributor to Physical Therapy department projects. One of my favorites was making an instructional video to help members who had recently undergone Total Hip Replacement surgery. It became widely used and has received special recognition from Kaiser Permanente. With my background in art, I have illustrated many patient exercise handouts and have been dubbed “the Department Artist.”

On a personal note, I am married and have two children, 5 cats, and 2 dogs. My lifelong passion is art, which I often combine with another hobby, bicycling, when I paint watercolors on the trails that I ride. Some of my special interests include printmaking (ask me about Monotype and lithography), competition and playing sports, and riding a motorcycle with my husband. There never seems to be enough time for all the things I love to do!

Your concerns are important to me, and I encourage you to call me at (408) 851-1463 if you have any questions or concerns about your physical therapy.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
