Patients and Colleagues, welcome to my Home Page. I was born in a joint family at Jaipur, India. My dad being a doctor, I followed his footsteps and went to the same medical school that he had graduated from. Coming from a well-known educated family, life at times felt a little too easy in that small town. And during my medical school I felt a strong urge to explore the world and make an identity outside my town.
America, the land of opportunity attracted me, Bay area being a melting pot of all the cultures exalts the notion of diversity and I fell in love with it. Here, I trained at Highland Hospital in Oakland, where not only did I gain excellent clinical skills but also the optimal use and mobilization of resources to the benefit and advantage of my patients.
Any disease acute or chronic causes physical discomfort, mental distress and social dysfunction. As a physician, I feel my responsibilities extend beyond the treatment of the physical discomfort. In my perspective healing involves coping with the mental distress, social readjustment and last but not least education to live with and tide over the illnesses. This perspective very closely matches the multifaceted approach at Kaiser, which targets each patient as a whole and not just the ailment. I like the challenges of acute care and the opportunity of close contact with the patients and their families. This helps me know them better so as to help them “THRIVE”.
My patients from various ethnic backgrounds leave me enriched and make me a better human being each day.
I love Hiking to the Mission Peak with my daughter or you may find me biking on the many nature trails in our East Bay.
