Welcome to my home page!
I went into emergency medicine because I enjoy the broad and inclusive nature of the field. I love working in the emergency department because it is the perpetually open front door to the hospital. We are here 24 hours a day, every day of the year, for anyone who walks through our doors or arrives by ambulance, and who needs help. We see people of all ages, from all walks of life, and in all states of health. Though we hope that you will not need our services, for those that do, we aim to provide the best care and to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
My background
I attended medical school at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine. Afterward, I completed internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego and residency in Emergency Medicine at the UCSD Medical Center. I speak Mandarin, some Cantonese, and some medical Spanish.
Interests
- Like most emergency medicine physicians, I am interested in all areas of medicine, from pediatrics to geriatrics, from cardiology to surgery, from cuts and bruises to heart attacks. We tend to focus on the most serious and life-threatening conditions but hope also to take care of less urgent needs as best as we can.
- When not at work, I love spending time with my family, reading, cooking, eating, hiking, and traveling.
Recommendations
I recommend that you take an active role in your healthcare, eat well, exercise regularly, and discuss appropriate preventive health measures with your primary care provider.
My philosophy of care
As an emergency medicine physician, I am committed to providing the best care for my patients here in the Emergency Department. We welcome all patients with urgent or emergent needs, and strive to provide the best care possible. At Kaiser, we are fortunate to enjoy an integrated system of health care, and I believe in working closely with our patients and their primary care providers. I encourage all my patients to take good care of themselves, including adherence to healthy diet, participating in regular exercise, and following preventative measures recommended by their regular doctors.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
