Welcome!
Welcome to my home page, where you can find more information about your medical condition and find out how to take advantage of all the health resources at Kaiser. One of those services is our state-of-the-art Emergency Department, where I may have met you, and where specialized physicians unexpected injuries and illness day and night.
I am excited to come to work in the Emergency Department everyday because I love caring for people. Patient education is something I have devoted myself to by writing over a hundred health articles for popular magazines and web sites, and a book, called “The Active Woman’s Guide to Pregnancy,” published by Ten Speed Press.
In the Emergency Department, I want to help people when they need it the most. I know a visit to the Emergency Department is always unplanned and can be overwhelming, so I try to take time to explain what is going on and I always appreciate your questions. I also value Kaiser’s commitment to long-term wellness and to a healthy community—so that you can avoid having to visit the Emergency Department!
My husband and I have long ties with the Bay Area; in fact, we met as undergraduates at Stanford. We are thrilled to be living and working in an area that is as scenic and as culturally vibrant as the East Bay.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
