About Me

Shortly after graduating from college in 1982, I made one of the best decisions of my life by joining the United States Navy. I worked as an ICU nurse and an obstetrical nurse before making another fantastic decision - going into Anesthesia. The interface between pharmacology and physiology in this specialty of health care is compelling. Even more compelling is the interaction I have with my patients. Surgery is scary for most people. What an honor it is to be with someone during that time, helping to alleviate their fears, and some how making the whole experience better than they imagined. Our department is known for its strong leadership and vision. It is a joy to work with the incredible nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists in this department, as well as working as a team with such talented surgeons.

After leaving the Navy, what attracted me to Kaiser Permanente was that it took what I loved most about my experience in the Navy and incorporated it into a community setting. The sheer size of Kaiser Permanente enables us to offer programs and services other hospital systems can only dream of offering. I am very proud of the anesthesia care, and the overall care, that our patients receive. Each day I go to work I see the sincere efforts of my colleagues and co-workers to build a healthy organization that, in turn, can best take care of our patients.

Besides work, I am passionate about my family and friends. I have two Havenese dogs that I am absolutely crazy about. I love bicycling and am fortunate enough to be able to do something I love to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
