Welcome to My Internet Home Page
My name is Amelia Castro and I am your Cardiovascular Risk Care Manager in the PHASE Program (Prevention of Heart Attack and Stroke Everyday). My goal is to assist you in taking control of your chronic conditions through educational counseling, coaching and medication management. Your questions and concerns are important to me and I will do my best to answer them during our interactive group class, clinical visits or telephone encounters. Depending on your needs, I will call upon my colleagues to assist and advise me on delivering to you the best medical care possible, as well as a clinical health educator who will provide you with direct health education, information and counseling for conditions such as weight management, exercise, diet, diabetes care, and smoking cessation.
About Me
I attended a year of pre-nursing program in Saint Louis University in the Philippines and a three year internship nursing program in Baguio General Hospital, School of Nursing in the Philippines where I graduated with a Nursing Diploma. My past hospital experiences included working in Medical and Surgical units, Intensive Care and Coronary Care units, and Progressive Intensive, Coronary, Respiratory Care Units. I joined Kaiser Permanente since 1990. I have worked as an advised nurse, ambulatory / urgent care nurse, extended role nurse in the adult medicine department, cholesterol care manager and multifit / cardiac rehabilitation care manager.
My Philosophy of Care
I strongly believe in preventative care. I also keep up with my clinical knowledge so that I can provide the best possible care and to guide my patients to have a better, healthier lifestyle.
