Hello, my name is Allan Foster and welcome to my webpage. Allow me to tell you a little about myself and what I do.
I wear a number of hats at the Kaiser CDRP. For one, I facilitate adult, adolescent and men’s groups. Along with another provider, I’ve started and am now leading the first African American Male Treatment Group at Kaiser Permanente. I am very proud to be a part of Kaiser’s never ending commitment to serving the diverse population of our members. In addition, I also see patients in our program individually.
I feel uniquely qualified to provide such a needed service to our community. My life experience, education and training make me the perfect person to help anyone seeking treatment for drugs and alcohol dependence. For one, I am very familiar with how difficult it can be to re-invent one’s life, having embarked on such a life journey. Secondly, my education includes completing a M.A. Degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology at John F. Kennedy University, California. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor. I have completed internships at Merritt Peralta Institute of Oakland and John F. Kennedy Counseling Center, Pleasanton, California. Prior to Kaiser, my experience includes being the founder and Program Director of ‘Another Chance Outreach Recovery Network (ACORN) of Oakland for nine years.
I do not see my service to Kaiser and our members as “work”, but as a “labor of love”, a “passion” and/or a “calling”. It is a source of peace and complete joy for me to help someone re-invent their life without dependence on drugs or alcohol.
If you or any family member needs help learning to live without drugs or alcohol, I know exactly how to help. So call the CDRP, and either myself, or another of our highly qualified staff, would be happy to help start and guide you on the road to recovery.
