About Me

I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field. I wanted to work with people as opposed to a position that didn't have human contact! My mother was a pediatric nurse and always loved her job. She greatly influenced my career choice. After high school I went to college for a bachelor’s degree in nursing. After working in the hospital setting for 10 years I went back to school to obtain a master’s degree in cardiovascular nursing from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). I then worked for the Department of Public Health and decided I wanted to work in a clinic setting, where I could see patients and be able to follow their care. I decided to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP), so I went back to UCSF to complete an Adult Nurse Practitioner program. I have worked here in the Walnut Creek Department of Medicine ever since. I joined the team in 1996, and truly enjoy my work and plan to continue working here for quite a while!

I work closely with all of my colleagues here at Kaiser Permanente, and have excellent physicians to consult with in caring for my patients. I believe in preventive medicine and feel a healthy diet, regular aerobic exercise, stress management, and not smoking are keys to staying healthy. Our health information can help you make smart choices, maybe even provide that magical dose of inspiration. You can thrive with Kaiser Permanente.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and several children, our dog, and three cats... as you can imagine, my family keeps me busy so I have chosen to work part-time. I like to exercise, be outside, work in my yard, be around family and friends, and travel as often as possible.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
