About Me...

I was born in Saigon, Vietnam. I grew up in Chicago, Illinois. I developed an interest in the biological and mathematical sciences early in high school. I attended Northwestern University where I enjoyed the humanities. I learned about art and music, explored different cultures and studied human behavior. I gravitated toward the medical field as it enabled me to integrate my love for what makes the body tick with my curiosity about human interactions.

Along with a lot of hard work, a college of medicine scholarship and research assistantship, I earned my medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago. I then went back to Northwestern where I completed my internship and residency with Northwestern University, Evanston Hospital. I am board certified in Internal Medicine. While I enjoy all aspects of adult medicine, I have special interests in preventive medicine and diabetes management. My medical training has taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, and the continual thirst for knowledge, medicine and self-improvement.

When I am not practicing medicine, I enjoy classical music, reading, hiking, cycling, meditation and yoga. In addition to English, I speak Vietnamese. I strive to maintain an active mind in a healthy body. I encourage you to do the same.

My Philosophy Of Care...

As a medical provider, I take a proactive approach to healthcare. I make medical recommendations in the best clinical interest of my patients. Concomitantly, I encourage my patients to actively participate in their healthcare. This symbiotic patient-physician relationship most optimally creates a win-win situation for you, the patient.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
