My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a physician assistant. This means exactly as my title states. I assist the physician in all aspects of patient care. This includes diagnosing patients and setting forth treatment plans, as well as assisting in surgical procedures.

My Practice Philosophy

The thing I try to focus on most is prevention. Although treatments for orthopedic ailments are very effective, there is no replacement for avoiding those problems all together. In orthopedics, maintaining a healthy life style with both diet and exercise can help prevent many long term problems. I also recognize that being too aggressive with activity can cause problems as well. That is why I believe in a balanced life style and enjoying things in moderation.

My Qualifications

Brigham Young University B.S.
University of South Alabama M.S.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2002. I grew up with Kaiser Permanente care through my childhood. I left Kaiser Permanente as I moved away to go to school and start my career. I was always impressed with the care that they provided for my family. I came to Kaiser Permanente after working in private practice in North Carolina. Since returning, I am still impressed with the Kaiser Permanente system and how they provide quality care to the community.

One of the things that I enjoy most about working at Kaiser Permanente is the ability to work with and coordinate with such a large group of professionals. I feel that I have endless amounts of information and help in the overall care of the patients that I see.

On a Personal Note. . .

I am married and have 2 children. I really enjoy and value the time I spend with them as a family. I enjoy running, swimming, as well as cycling. I may enjoy cycling a little too much. I also enjoy snowboarding in the winter time with my son and daughter. Now that my children are a little older, I enjoy camping. I love the outdoors. (Tahoe is awesome!)

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
