WELCOME TO MY HOME PAGE

I am a physician who specializes in the field of psychiatry. This means that I deal with problems of mental health that can range anywhere from mild depression or anxiety, to relationship difficulties; to the more serious psychiatric disease conditions. I work in a team with other healthcare providers like psychologists, counselors, and behavioral specialists. Our concern is to get our clients back to normal functioning as quickly as possible using whatever methods are available such as education, advice, training, counseling, and/or medication, etc.

Here are some things that I think are keys to good mental health:

  1. Practice regular exercise and good eating habits.
  2. Avoid chemicals like nicotine, alcohol.
  3. Minimize any use of narcotic pain medications.
  4. Avoid the use of addictive "street drugs!"
  5. Practice positive "self-talk!"

My Credentials

Medical school Kabul University (pohantoon-e-kabul), Kabul, Afghanistan
Internship New England Medical Center Hospitals, Boston, MA
Residency New England Medical Center Hospitals, Boston, MA
Board certification Psychiatry, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Outside of medicine, I enjoy reading, swimming, spending time with my family and friends.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1999.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
