Introduction

At the age of 19, I was fascinated by computers. After completing preparatory courses in Glendale Community College, I was admitted to UC Berkley to study Computer Science. The night prior to my planned departure to Berkley, I experienced a life changing moment. I suddenly realized that my calling is in medicine. I had suffered from expels of sinusitis since I was a teenager. Endoscopic Sinus surgery had significantly improved the quality of my life. I realized that I desired to be a part of medical field and make a difference in other people’s lives. After completing my degree in Biology at UCLA, I married the love of my life. We spent eight wonderful years in Chicago as I completed medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and Anesthesiology Residency at University of Illinois at Chicago. We moved to the Bay Area where most of our families resided, and I completed a fellowship in Pain Management at Stanford University. Before joining Kaiser Permanente San Jose, I experienced working in multiple private and managed care settings including Kaiser facilities. I truly believe in the philosophy at Kaiser, enjoy the collegiality among physicians and supporting medical professionals.

Personal Interests

I am a family person. When I am not working I spend most of my time with my family. I also enjoy hiking and bike riding. I am very passionate about soccer.

Philosophy of Care

As an anesthesiologist, I have a short time between operating room cases to meet my patients. My goals are to obtain a comprehensive history of my patients, relieve some of the anxiety that surrounds the operative arena, reassure my patients about our operative team’s ability and care and discuss anesthetic options. As a pain management specialist, I strive to improve my patients’ quality of life in a multidisciplinary approach involving physical therapy, exercise, medication, medical interventions, psychology and alternative medicine.
