About Me

I was drawn to Social Work for its emphasis on a holistic approach to mental health care and a historic commitment to serving diverse populations. As a bilingual clinician wanting to serve the Latino community, I returned to Kaiser Oakland in 2006 after completing my clinical internship and graduating from the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. I enjoy working at Kaiser because I believe that our team of clinical social workers, clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists recognizes and embraces the best of Social Work values. We are an ethnically and culturally diverse staff with a multidisciplinary approach to treatment that reflects the community we serve.

In collaboration with my clients, I seek to identify attainable treatment goals and utilize a combination of therapeutic modalities in treatment planning, including Cognitive Behavioral, Self-Psychology, and Family Systems approaches. I also work as an advocate to help empower children with learning challenges to access vital educational resources. Other areas of interest include treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders in children and adolescents, ADHD and other learning differences, acculturation challenges, and grief and bereavement. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, cycling, and music as well as ongoing studies in philosophy, spirituality, and religion.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
