My Biography

The summer before I began my pharmaceutical education, I worked in one of Kaiser Permanente’s pharmacies. My cousin’s wife was already working here and she recommended that I apply for a position. I am glad that I did!

One of Kaiser’s greatest strengths is the integrative care model. For example, the process for seeing a specialist is a fairly seamless one, as opposed to a months-long wait for a referral. Furthermore, all services are under the same roof. Patients do not have to reach outside of the system to obtain an MRI or complete laboratory work. Our website is a huge bonus, as patients may schedule appointments, e-mail their providers over a secure connection, refill prescriptions, and even review lab results, all online.

In the Chronic Pain Management Center, I like working with a multidisciplinary staff; it’s great to have everyone’s expertise on hand. I think we work wonderfully as a team because ultimately, everything we do is in service to the care of the patient. I am intrigued by everything having to do with chronic pain. I learn a lot from my patients as well. For instance, I have been educated against the typical negative, substance-abuse stereotypes associated with people who take chronic narcotic medications.

I try to exercise two to four times per week, and I do weight training and watch what I eat. I plan to start yoga next! My hobbies include snowboarding and traveling. I am married with two daughters, a toy poodle named Cocoa, and a Korean jindo named Rocco.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
