About Me

I am one of the newest members of the Department of Medicine, joining the medical staff in October 2005. I have spent most of my life on the East Coast, having grown up in Rhode Island and living most recently in Philadelphia prior to moving to California. I am happy to have found my way back to family roots here in the Bay Area.

I am a family physician and am fortunate to have trained in a public hospital in the Los Angeles County health system where I cared for a diverse group of patients, many of whom were uninsured. Since completing my residency program, I have been working at several community-based health centers here in the Bay Area and in Urgent Care at Kaiser Oakland Medical Center.

As a Kaiser primary care physician, I appreciate being able to work in a medical system in which I can access services for my patients and provide the level of care that they deserve. I am happy to be part of an organization that is dedicated to providing evidence-based health care. I am committed to providing excellent patient care by focusing on care of the whole person. My practice philosophy is greatly influenced by my experience as an HIV social worker prior to starting medical school. I have a strong interest in health education and enjoy working with patients to help them better understand their medical conditions.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
