Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit my home page. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a second generation Taiwanese-American. I grew up in Houston, Texas, but I have been in sunny California since 1989. I graduated from Stanford University undergraduate program with honors and distinction in biology, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. I attended the University of California at Los Angeles for medical school, internship, and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery training, and I then returned to Stanford for fellowship.

As a fellowship-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I deal with a wide range of patients. I am board certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Through the Head and Neck Surgery Department, I practice general otolaryngology with a focus on reconstructing nasal and facial defects caused by trauma, cancer, and other disease processes. Through our Cosmetic Services Department, I am able to offer a wide variety of the latest methods for rejuvenation and enhancement of facial features.

As part of my reconstructive practice, I treat many patients with facial skin cancers. My goal with these patients is first and foremost to cure them of their cancer. Once the lesion has been successfully treated, I use my training as a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon to reconstruct the resulting defect to a cosmetically acceptable appearance. Prior to beginning any treatment, I discuss with each patient the pre-operative care, post-operative care, healing time, and cosmetic expectations they might have for their individual lesion. I discuss the importance of steps you can take to protect yourself from sun exposure. There are many different types of skin cancers, therefore different patients will require differing treatment. The American Academy of Dermatology is an excellent patient resource for more information. Just type in the condition you are looking for under "search the site" (upper right hand corner of screen), and you will find concise, well-written, illustrated summaries.

Many patients come to me wanting to enhance or rejuvenate their appearance. I try to include in our discussion how Simple, Everyday Activities Can Improve Your Appearance. I then try to engage the patient in an open discussion of their hopes and expectations for our consultation. If we determine that a patient is a good candidate for cosmetic enhancement, we then review the potential risks and benefits of the procedure with the patient. I also review the pre-operative and post-operative care instructions with the patient. We have separate instructions for Browlift, Blepharoplasty, Facelift, Rhinoplasty, Chemical Peels, Laser Treatments, Titan, Botox Injections, and Injectible Fillers.

It is also important for us to review Medication Precaution List.

I feel very fortunate to have found a career which allows me to help people on a daily basis, while providing very well for myself and my family. I thank you all for the privilege of serving you.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
