I am a dermatologist that has additional training in Mohs surgery, cutaneous oncology, facial reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. I grew up in Porterville, a small town in the San Juaquin Valley, and like most native Californians, I have had way too much sun exposure. That is what originally attracted me to the specialty of dermatology and the treatment of skin cancer.

I have provided care to Kaiser Permanente members since 1998. Kaiser Permanente is a great place to practice medicine because it allows me to treat patients as I would want my family members to be treated. The financial incentives of certain treatment options are removed and I can just do what I feel is right for each individual. In this age of “turf battles” between various specialists, it is great to be a partner in one of the few medical practices that encourages a cooperative environment among multiple reconstructive and cosmetic specialists.

The majority of my practice is limited to treating skin cancers in the Mohs surgery clinic, and I have performed over 4,000 Mohs surgery cases. It has always been my goal to provide outstanding care in an environment that puts patients at ease. The final cosmetic outcome is of critical importance in all of my surgeries and every effort is made to make the surgical wounds as imperceptible as possible. I also spend some of my time performing cosmetic dermatology. My interests in this area include Botox, Fillers (Restylane, Collagen, etc), laser removal of blood vessels, chemical peels, and cosmetic removal of benign skin growths.

I have done a lot of traveling to get my education. I received my medical degree from Loma Linda University and was nominated to Alpha Omega Alpha national honor society and awarded the President’s Award for graduating at the top of my medical school class. I then did my internship in Portland and dermatology residency in Detroit where I served as chief resident. Next, I spent a year in Vancouver, British Columbia for my Mohs Surgery/Cosmetic Dermatology fellowship. I still love to travel and also enjoy spending time hiking, biking, skiing, running, gardening or just about any outdoor activity with my wife and two children.

The links on the left of my webpage will provide more information on Mohs Surgery, pre- and post-operative care, and cosmetic dermatology.
