THRIVE: A Healthy You ...Click here to get connected and learn how to live healthier every day.

Welcome to my home page!

Hello! Thanks for taking an interest in my home page. I'm Dr. Michelle Shute, board-certified in Internal Medicine, and joined Kaiser at Oakland in 2005. This is a very exciting time in my life to partner with this facility in providing your health care needs. My philosophy is simple: The patient and I work as PARTNERS in their primary care. Education and Risk Prevention are key ingredients in accomplishing good health. These are the basics that you can expect from me as your provider.

It has been my privilege to practice medicine in various settings including the county/private practice and for HMOs. What I've found is that no matter what environment I find myself in, it is always my pleasure to participate in disease prevention and management. Hypertension and diabetes plague our nation, especially for African Americans. I have tried to do my share at work and at community outreach events since medical school in identifying and managing these conditions.

On the personal side, I love animals and have owned several dogs of large and small breeds. You may see me once in a while with my Akita. I also have several cats (who get along great with my dog believe it or not!) that bring a smile to everyone that they meet. Tennis, music, mystery novels, art/painting and family get-togethers take up my spare time. Hope this helps you get to know me a little bit! And I'm happy to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente Team here in Oakland.

Wishing you great health,
Dr. Michelle Shute

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
