Welcome

My name is Michael Torres and I specialize in working with Teenagers and their families (although I work with all age groups). This site serves to familiarize you with my background, specialty areas, and mental health services in general. Please visit my related links to discover additional mental health information for you and your family, as well as links related to education, media and vocational opportunities. I am in the office from Monday - Thursday and keep several evening hours.

This website can be your starting point to access Kaiser Permanente web resources and other information on the Internet. A number of links are available on the left margin of this page. Click on Mental Health Information Links for a wealth of Internet web pages and informative pamphlets.

As I stated, my particular specialty and passion is working with Teenagers. There is no other time in the life cycle when so many forces converge during one period like the explosive, sensitive, and particular forces present during Adolescence. It is also a period of time that shapes adult personality, and behavioral and cognitive styles. In other words - Adolescence is a critical period of development, and working with this age group presents enormous challenges, but also magnificent rewards. Fundamentally, I respect young people for surviving Adolescence and encourage them to develop their own unique identities while also becoming productive and caring members of our society. I look forward to serving you and your Teen in any possible. Also - look for my "Understanding Your Teenager" parent course usually appearing the last Thursday of the month from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in Building C - Union City.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
