My Healthcare Practice

I have the privilege of being able to practice my medical specialty, adult endocrinology, at Kaiser Permanente since moving from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine faculty in 1989. I have found endocrinology, the study of glandular and hormonal diseases, to be the more humanizing and certainly more fascinating extension of college biochemistry (which I thoroughly enjoyed!). As an endocrinologist, my role is working with you and your providers to educate, evaluate, diagnose, and provide options for treatment if indicated.

My specialty of medicine is surprisingly a relatively young one, and much like the rest of the world, progress and understanding are progressing at warp speed. Not only that, but the ability to access these informational and technological advances in my field offer the satisfaction of being able to provide improved service. My ability to access your computerized information at appointments, including previous visits, laboratory data, and radiology films or reports due to our integration of care services is a tremendous asset working with you to enhance health evaluation, monitoring, and care. I also work with well-respected endocrinologists that share my office, as well as having wonderful staff to help provide assistance.

My Qualifications

Since progress and change are rapid, I feel it is a responsibility to be involved and keep current in knowledge. I am a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Diabetes Association, the Endocrine Society, and the North American Society for the Study of Obesity. I am currently chair of the research committee at Kaiser Sacramento, medical director of the bone density service for Kaiser Sacramento/Roseville, and I participate in other committees involved in education and medical care. I continue my relationship with the University of California, Davis School of Medicine as a volunteer clinical faculty member.

My Credentials

Medical school University of Southern California School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA
Internship UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Residency UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Fellowship UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Board certification Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism, American Board of Internal Medicine

About Me

I am a Sacramento area native and am very happy to be able to live and practice in an area so close to family and friends. My personal life is spent with family. Life with my wife and three children, as you can imagine, is both busy and fulfilling.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
