My Biography

I came to Kaiser Permanente because of the relationships I had already formed with people here. I met my future colleagues while I was at UC Santa Barbara; most of them were on the UC faculty at the time. I consider my colleagues to be the best group of dermatologists in San Francisco. I also still teach.

I find my patients to be diverse, interesting people. I truly feel that Kaiser has the best patient population in all of San Francisco. Kaiser Permanente is the easiest place for me to position myself as a patient advocate. There is less bureaucracy here, and my practice can be very flexible. I have the autonomy to adapt to the needs of the patients I see.

I have a particular interest in therapeutics and new treatments, and I enjoy running clinical trials with new medications. I am active with the cosmetic surgery program here.

I like to relax with my family during my free time, and to go hiking, swimming, walking, and camping (I’m also a former backpacker). I enjoy reading an eclectic range of literature and I belong to a book club. I am married with two kids and a tank full of fish!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
