Mountain View Psychiatry Department's Philosophy

As your clinicians, we want to provide the best care possible for you. We believe in treating the whole person with the focus on mind-body wellness. At this clinic, we can offer you group therapy, individual therapy, and medication evaluation depending on our comprehensive assessment of what would be the best care for your particular problem. We, as therapists, believe that group therapy is very helpful and is an important benefit we can offer our members. We are particularly skilled in bring this form of treatment to our members. At our clinic, we offer a comfortable and welcoming environment for members to come and receive treatment. We look forward to working with you.

About Me

I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated from Mills College in Oakland with a B.A. degree in psychology. Eventually I went on to obtain a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. While a graduate student, I received training at Casa S.A.Y. (a residential treatment home for teens), the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Hospital’s day treatment program, West Valley Community Mental Health Clinic, and Stanford Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center. I completed my post-doctoral training at Santa Clara Kaiser Adult Psychiatry clinic with a rotation at the Santa Clara Kaiser Child Psychiatry clinic. I enjoyed that experience so much that I joined the clinical staff and have worked at Kaiser Adult Psychiatry in Santa Clara or in Mountain View since then. I have published research on the relationship of adolescent girls and their mothers. I am also the principal author of a book, Creating a Family Through Adoption.

I have been the clinical manager of the Mountain View Psychiatry clinic since 2003 when we first opened. As the manger, I am responsible for ensuring that the clinical staff provides excellent patient care and that the environment of the clinic is supportive and caring. As a clinician, I enjoy working with both individuals and groups. The variety of the treatment groups I have led demonstrates the diversity of my clinical interests: I have led groups for seniors, members with bipolar disorder, members wanting to improve coping through cognitive-behavioral skills, members with depression, a group for women, and members who have been recently released from psychiatric hospitalization. In 1999, my peers voted me as the psychologist who had made the most valuable contribution to psychology at the Santa Clara Psychiatry clinic.

My Interests

In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, cooking and spending time with my family and friends.
