Welcome to my home page!

People often ask why our specialty is called “plastic surgery”. “Plastikos” means “to shape” or “to mold”. Plastic surgery can help patients with a variety of conditions, including cancer, birth defects (such as cleft lip and cleft palate), birthmarks, abnormal breasts, or traumatic injury. Plastic surgery can improve or enhance one’s normal appearance; it can help to reduce the changes associated with childbirth, weight loss, or aging.

I currently serve as the Chief of Plastic Surgery of the Oakland and Richmond facilities. I have been a member of the Permanente Medical Group since 1998, and was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1999. I am an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons , the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.

I have also enjoyed helping children with plastic surgical needs in lesser developed nations, through my involvement with Interplast. I have served as the team leader for surgical missions to Bolivia and Brazil, and have participated in two missions to Vietnam.

I believe that a balanced life is important, in order to maintain optimal health. I enjoy spending time with my family and pursuing various athletic hobbies.

This site will be updated periodically, and I appreciate your feedback.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
