I started working at the Milpitas clinic in July 1999 as an intern in the Child and Adolescent services part of the psychiatry clinic. I transferred to Adult services in 2001. I enjoy working here because our staff is always looking for ways to improve the already excellent psychiatric services we provide to the community. I also appreciate the diversity of the patients and their families who come here and the opportunities to learn and work with them.

I grew up in San Jose and graduated from UCLA with my bachelor’s degree. I have a master’s degree in counseling from California State University Hayward (now East Bay) and a Ph.D. in Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine from the University of North Texas. My areas of interest include psycho-educational testing and working with patients who have experienced a traumatic event.

Kaiser members come to the psychiatry clinic for a number of reasons. My first visit with you will include gathering information so we can develop a treatment plan together. The treatment plan will be based on the goals we set, and might include individual treatment, group treatment, and/or medication. Goals will focus on addressing the reason you come to the clinic. For example, they might focus on learning better coping skills, making lifestyle changes, communicating better or learning to think about situations from different perspectives. I look forward to working with you.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
