Hello and welcome to my home page. I am a clinical audiologist at San Jose Medical Center providing services to patients of all ages from newborn to seniors.

Originally from St. Louis, MO, I moved with my family to San Jose where I attended San Jose State University with the intention of becoming a Speech Pathologist. Since Audiology was a combined major with Speech Pathology, I soon learned that I was drawn to the profession of Audiology. I obtained my Master’s Degree in 1982 and in 2005 obtained my doctoral degree in Audiology through the Arizona School of Health Sciences’ distance learning program.

Background

I began working at Kaiser San Jose in 1983 while employed by a private practice audiologist and became an employee of Kaiser Permanente in 2001. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with an exceptional group of people and have enjoyed the variety of patients I’ve seen, from newborns to seniors. I especially enjoy the challenges and rewards of the pediatric population.

Recommendations

As a member of the regional Newborn Hearing Screening Committee, I have seen the importance of early identification of hearing loss and the benefits of early intervention. I believe in providing personalized care by listening to the patient, explaining the results and taking into account how the disorder affects his/her life in order to appropriately assess and counsel the patient.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
