Welcome to my Website
My website is for your convenience, and is a part of our comprehensive care program at Kaiser Permanente. From this website, you can access extensive and reliable health care information as well as make appointments and request medication refills.
You may communicate with me via the e-mail address above for non-urgent messages. All other messages are handled more rapidly through our 24-7-365 Call Center. Their number is 408-945-2933 and your message appears on my computer screen as soon as you finish your call.
I would like to give you some information about myself.
I was born and raised in the Midwest. My engineering degree came from the University of Detroit and I worked in Mechanical Design and Development for 12 years at various organizations. Two of my designs were published in Design News, a national engineering magazine. You can see a bit of my past life by clicking on the hotlinks at the left.
In 1978, I entered the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. This has the distinction of being the first medical school in the USA, and is a descendant of Edinburgh Medical School in Scotland by virtue some of its founders. Another founder has a familiar name - Benjamin Franklin.
I spent most of my medical residency at Santa Clara Kaiser, although I chose to do some electives at Harvard and Pennsylvania Hospital. I was Chief Medical Resident at Santa Clara for two years. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and I am a member of the American College of Physicians.
After residency, I chose to join the Permanente Medical Group as a staff physician. I chose this particular group over others because I was very impressed with their spirit of innovation, their fellowship and their courage to do the right thing. I have never regretted that decision, because this group has continually improved itself even more over the years.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy my home life with my wife and a varying collection of cats. I was lucky to have met my wife before medical school and she has been a joy to me for all that time.
We are mostly bookish in nature, but do travel occasionally and enjoy sampling the many excellent restaurants in and around the Bay Area.
I want to be sure that all you concerns are addressed during your visit. If you have further questions, please feel free to leave a message for me through our Call Center. I do not have a separate phone for patients because I tried that in the past and it was not successful.
We have a new focus for Kaiser Permanente known as Thrive. I think this a great way to consider the work that we do. We are here to help you thrive.
