#haed About Me

I was born in Korea; I came to the US as a teenager. After attending high school in Northern Virginia, I came out to the West Coast and attended Stanford University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. I received my MD degree Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1985 and then did my neurology residency training at Boston University.

I first joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1990 and worked at Santa Teresa Medical Center for 10 years. In 2000, I moved to Allentown, PA, following my husband’s change in work and went into community practice. After a couple of years and missing Kaiser Permanente very much, I decided to come back in 2002. I have been at Santa Clara Medical Center ever since.

I consider myself extremely fortunate in having a wonderful career and family. After many years, I continue to love being a neurologist, finding it both very interesting and fulfilling. I am an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Stroke Association and the Santa Clara Medical Association. I am certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

My Interests

My medical interests are general neurology, stroke and headaches. I am married and have two children. I enjoy reading, bird watching and gardening.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
