Biography:

I was born in Saigon, Vietnam. I immigrated to the United States in 1975 and was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. In three years of study, I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park campus and graduated Cum Laude Honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology.

After college, I was then granted a research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where I performed research related to the effects of chemotherapeutic agents on ovarian cancer. Following my fellowship,I received my medical degree at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. I completed my first year of ophthalmology training at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and then completed my final years of ophthalmology at Saint Vincents Hospital affiliated with New York Medical College in New York City.

I joined Kaiser Santa Clara as a comprehensive ophthalmologist. I am a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, and New York Ophthalmology Society.

During my spare time, I like to take advantage of the beautiful California landscape and climate by playing outdoor sports including hiking, beach volleyball, tennis and golf. I speak Vietnamese fluently.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
