“Not only am I the patient’s clinician, but I am also the patient’s coach and motivator. I strive to empower each patient to be well-educated and in charge of his or her conditions. Incorporating a healthful diet, reinforcing physical activity, optimizing appropriate medication use, and emphasizing patient self-monitoring are keys to a successful program.”

Dr. Ip was born and raised on the Peninsula. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of California, Davis. While at Davis, he competed at the collegiate level as a member of the UC Davis Men’s Swimming Team. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
