About Me
Thanks for visiting my home page. Let me tell you a bit about myself.
I joined the Internal Medicine staff in 1994, after completing my residency in the Oakland facility. I was pretty familiar with the medical center; I’ve been a Kaiser member since my family moved from Detroit to Oakland in 1956. (My younger sister was born at Kaiser Oakland in 1957.) I’ve lived within a short walk or bike ride to a Kaiser Medical Center most of my life, and still commute to work by bicycle on most days.
After completing my undergraduate degree at the University of California at Berkeley, I moved to New York City where I attended the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. In my exam rooms you might notice several old maps and photographs of New York City, attesting to my on-going connection to that city. I try to visit New York at least once a year.
My approach to the doctor-patient relationship follows a few simple principles – mutual respect, open and effective communication, and a common goal – your best possible health. I apply these principles to my general medical practice, and as one of the staff in our HIV specialty clinic.
